About the Disinformation Analysis Center
NASK's Disinformation Analysis Center (OAD) identifies and neutralizes contemporary information threats. It is an interdisciplinary research and analytical unit working at the intersection of technology, social sciences, and data analysis.
The OAD team is made up of fact-checkers, data analysts, and language and cultural experts.

We analyze open source data to detect coordinated activities and disinformation mechanisms.

Narrative Trend Analysis and Fact-Checking Team
The Narrative Trend Analysis and Fact-Checking Team monitors narratives and disinformation trends present in the Polish information sphere. The team's responsibilities include preparing analyses using the ABCDE methodology and the DISARM Red Framework. The team also develops thematic reports, including crisis analyses, and investigates social media accounts.
Disinformation Campaign Analysis and Detection Team
The Disinformation Campaign Analysis and Detection Team identifies and describes complex information operations. It consists of data analysts (including big data) and OSINT experts. The team prepares reports on known and emerging campaigns, such as 'Storm1516,' 'Doppelganger,' 'Overload,' and 'Undercut.' It also works to detect and disrupt bot networks and Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour (CIB).
External Threat Analysis Team
The External Threat Analysis Team monitors external infospheres, particularly those of Russia, Belarus, and China. The team analyzes narratives concerning Poland and Europe and how they penetrate the Polish information space. Linguistic and cultural knowledge helps the team in the precise assessment of sources.
Rapid Response and Disinformation Detection Team
The Rapid Response and Disinformation Detection Team works around the clock, seven days a week. Its tasks include assessing content for its accuracy, intent, and manipulation techniques, archiving social media materials, and reporting them to platforms for moderation. The team also handles reports from citizens and institutions. The team is part of the EU's Rapid Alert System (RAS).
Information space analysis
At OAD, we apply an integrated approach to content analysis, combining successive layers of disinformation actors’ activities into a macro view. This allows us to understand the mechanisms behind the creation, escalation, and the use of disinformation content in influence operations.
Evaluation of individual pieces of content (facts, graphic and video materials, posts, and messages) in terms of their accuracy, the manipulation techniques used, context, methods of dissemination, authors, and the publication environment. Each item is assessed by two independent analysts.
Monitoring the development and spread of narratives over time using the ABCDE methodology, the DISARM Red Framework, and NASK’s proprietary content escalation methodology.
Examining connections between accounts, channels, and communication spaces using social network analysis (SNA), as well as analyzing the phenomenon of inauthentic activity using Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour (CIB) analysis.
Monitoring four key infospheres: Polish, Russian, Belarusian, and Chinese, with a focus on the cross-flow of disinformation content, its modification, and its impact on public debate in Poland. Analysis of propaganda and disinformation concerning Poland abroad.
